That is because people are naive about the birth control pill. I was. No doctor ever told me I could get VV or anything else from it. We blindly trust the health care profession. See what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage.

Hey there,

I've been following the news reports on the Maine middle school

offering birth control pills to 6th graders. What I find disturbing -

and very sad - is that even those people who oppose this decision,

don't ever mention the negative side-effects the pill can have on

(very) young girls' bodies. They only say children should not have

sex. But if they do it anyway, ok, let's give them the pill. We don't

even now for sure how these hormones affect the bodies of grown women.

I think it's very dangerous to give them out to young girls. I mean,

they're all worried about pregnacies; but who ever thinks about those

girls? It's a halth center after all. But to me the whole issue

doesn't seem to be about health that much. Very sad...

> Speaking of the pill, on the news last night, they mentioned that

a school district in Portland, Maine wants to offer the Birth Control

Pill to 6th graders!!!!!!! That's right! Sixth graders! 11 - 13

year olds is what they said...I sat there in horror thinking, " oh,

that's great, like a young girl hitting puberty needs the pill. " Said

it is the 'safe' thing since a 'small' amount of girls at that age are

sexually active! Guess what? Pregnancy more than likely won't kill

you....on the other hand AIDS will!!! So the pill is safe???? Sad

that we live in a day and time when kids are no longer kids, but mini

adults. *ugh*
