Guest guest
hi everyone, i had a vestibulectomy with vaginal advancement done on friday, and i am quite constipated from the percocet they have me on. i tried getting off the percocet, but i need it right now for my discomfort. any suggestions for things to try? i have used suppositories, which only help a bit, and i am trying to stay away from using an enema --- i think i am kind of nervous about using it. any suggestions that people have found helpful would be great!! thanks, amy
Guest guest
Dried plums, or apricot nectar? Maybe something along those lines. Guest guest
I had the same problem after my vestibulectomy. It was the vicodin, and lying in bed all day certainly didn't help. I eventually had to take four laxatives. If that didn't work I had an enema on standby. With all those stitches, straining is the last thing you want to be doing, and while neither seems pleasant, the alternative is even less so. In retrospect, and by hearing so many women experience the same problem, I was annoyed the surgeon didn't warn me. But, then again, he said I would be fine to start my MBA classes less than 48 hours afterwards, which I was in no way able to do! Good luck. Dawn wrote: Dried plums, or apricot nectar? Guest guest
Amy, I know others have answered already...I have had chronic constipation my whole life, and when probiotics don't help (usually they do), I take an herbal product from Harmony Formulas called Super II. It can be ordered by calling 1-. I prefer to use herbals when I can but in a pinch, I use OTC stool softeners like Colace. I've done enemas before, they aren't so bad. People used to do them all the time for seasonal cleansing or to help get rid of fevers, but it's gone by the wayside. With the diets we tend to have now, it would probably help most of us. Thinking of you and sending well thoughts your way! Melinda
