urethra problem/ lyrica?

I have had this urethra burning since February. I supposedly have IC, but all along I feel that my clitoris is the real culprit. My pain is internal. I'm almost convinced that I have an infection that hasn't gone away. I've had blood work done and urine tests to rule out ureaplasma, mycoplasma, etc. The infectious disease docs say that it is unlikely that I could have these infections. The ID doc gave me 10 days of doxycyline to try to see if it helps. I'm afraid to try it because I've been on so many antibiotics for my bladder issues. I was also given desipramine for nerve pain (didn't help and side effects were horrendous) and recently given lyrica to try. Does anyone have any thoughts on lyrica or if I'm in denial about the infection. Could this all be nerve pain? It all started out with urgency and frequency. That has calmed down some, but the clitoral pain has never gone away. I deal with a hypersensitive clitoris 24/7 and it's so old. Thanks for any feedback you

can give. I appreciate it!pletchsr wrote: Not only do doctors not know there is a cause and effect with the pills regarding VVs, they are in full denial. The reproductive endocrinologist was adamant that there are absolutely NO long term effects of the pill on the body. Everyone's afraid people are going to go out and get an abortion (or use the day after pill) if you say something bad about the pill. shannon > > Chelle, I would agree that most physicians probably don't know that there

is a cause and effect with the pills regarding VV. They are the docs - the guys in the trenches dispensing/treating based on the work done by the medical researchers. The docs are only as good as the published research sent their way. > __________________________________________________

: I take 75mg Lyrica at night. This is a great reduction in the amount I had been on. My doctor says I have done a tremendous amount of good for my well being by getting down to this low dosage and to give myself a year on it before I do my best to lower the amount again. So, it works. It takes time. Along with all the other measures we have discussed here. Also, how bout asking your doctor for something like Lexapro or Cymbalta to deal with the pain as well. Also, it will help with anxiety/depression if you are dealing with that. Even just a 10 mg dosage. huh? love, ML
