Guest guest
Hi all. I am 37, with IC and vulvodynia for 18 years. I have recently begun using a treadmill. I had/have pelvic floor issues that have improved significantly over the years with PT. I am walking a mile, slowly working up to a speed of 4 miles an hour (I stay on the treadmill a little over 20 minutes). My question is: Do any of you know if walking at that pace has a significant impact on the pelvic floor? I try to stay away from any exercise that involves a lot of impact, like running, jump rope etc, but I'm not sure about fast walking. FYI I have been taking pole dancing classes on and off for a couple of years and have not noticed any increase in pain (though I have hurt my bad back on occasion when I've overdone it). It's been a lot of fun and I highly recommend it! Anyway, any advice on walking would be greatly appreciated.
Guest guest
Hey , when I saw Rhonda K. recently she told me to walk...and to build up to a 'brisk' walk. If you can handle it, I think 'walking' is one of the best exercises those with pelvic floor dysfunction can do. I think the walking will help with blood flow and we definitely need that for the pelvic floor and walking can also help 'tone' the pelvic floor muscles. If we just did pelvic floor PT and didn't do anything to stay toned that could lead to prolapse. Just depends on your own personal situation, though. Who do you see for PT? What is pole dancing????
