Guest guest
, have you tried going back through our archives (on the home page of Vulvar Disorders?). If I come across anything I'll send it to the group....are you currently taking the pill or have you in the past? Have you ever been able to get your doc to prescribe Estrace topically yet? Guest guest
chelle, http://www.kaisernetwork.org/daily_reports/rep_index.cfm?DR_ID=12809 Found it. Article from 2002. States that " women who had taken oral contraceptives were almost seven times as likely as women who had never taken oral contraceptives to have vulvar vestibulitis. " However the link is only anecdotal regarding the estrogen receptors: " Bouchard said that she *thinks* the hormones in OCs may " act on receptors " in the vulvar tissue, causing the tissue to become " more sensitive to irritating chemicals " and eventually painful to the touch. " (my ** are added) This is the one i printed out and showed to a reproductive endocrinologist and she didn't go with it... So no, no estrace for me. But I'm not sure if Estrace is what I need yet. > > , have you tried going back through our archives (on the home page of Vulvar Disorders?). Guest guest
, I'm glad you found it. The most important thing to go by is your gut instincts. Do you have any vulvar skin irritation and you KNOW it's in the skin. I think Estrace is so good when you KNOW something is up with the skin. It truly does rebuild the tissue in that area. I'm sure you've probably read the posts Dee has sent in about Dr. Willems (sp?) and the use of Estrace. I got Estrace from my uro/gyn. By the time I began using it, my labia were getting little tiny tears in them. The Estrace healed those little painful tears right up and I've never had one since! My skin is thicker and more pliable now. Overall in much better shape....I was only 32 when I began using Estrace and I haven't had a hysterectomy.
