Guest guest
Lu, No, the reaction for me was not like an allergic reaction. I had the reaction because of how damaged the nerves in my vulvar area are already. If it were like an allergic reaction or were an allergic reaction to the dye itself I should have had a problem with it the first time I ever had the test done in 1997 but I didn't. (If it were an allergic reaction I should have a problem with eating shrimp and other shellfish because they have iodine in them, and I don't have a problem eating them.) From the time I had the CT Scan in 1997 to the time I had the CT Scan in 2004 it had been 7 years. The CT Scan done in 1997 was done in April of 1997 and my surgical procedure to my labia minora that caused the vulvodynia was a month later: on May 2nd. The feeling only lasted a couple minutes. I didn't mind and it actually did me a favor as I told because it gave me some more clues as to some of the nerve as far as area were involved. However, I could see where for some people that could be in an indication of an allergic reaction. Interesting thought. Guest guest
Be careful Kristy...... you can indeed DEVELOP an allergy to something long after you've been subjected to it. In fact it s a theory that allergy is sort of based on that - continuous exposure or ingestion to a thing may well be contributing factor and tip you over into an allergic reaction.A gal I grew up with (we're 59) was taken to the hospital with anaphalactic shock this past summer while eating at a crab feast. Been eating crabs since the day she was born - after all we're landers. So, it DOES happen. Just thought I'd let you know.DustyKristy Sokoloski wrote: Lu,No, the reaction for me was not like an allergic reaction. Guest guest
Dusty, I know my body very well and would know if it's an allergy. Please be careful with theories because they are known to be proved wrong too. Kristy ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
An allergy does not manifest the first time the allergen is ingested. The body creates antibodies to the allergen the first time it is used and then the body fights the antibodies and produces an allergic reaction. Also an allergy to iodine does not necessarily indicate allergy to shellfish and vice versa. http://www.wdxcyber.com/ngen22.htm Ora
Guest guest
This isn't a theory, Kristi. I fail to see where your comment comes from. I am an allergy suffererer and I'm in great contact with my body too - but new allergies develop and one has no warning. An excellent example is yellow dyes which I have been applying and ingesting my whole life. At age 52 - I became allergic to them. The allergists I see are quite clear on the fact that allergies can rear their ugly heads at any time.DustyKristy Sokoloski wrote: Dusty,I know my body very well and would know if it's an allergy.
