Guest guest
One of my docs said that cultures only pick up 50% of yeast infections. A microscope slide is usually the best way to go. And...if yeast treatments work for you, will your doctor rx an extended course for you? Linddsey > > The yeast treatments are the only thing that have gotten rid of my burning > and itching. Guest guest
Yeast for sure doesn't always culture. I have never ever had a positive yeast culture but I have systemic yeast (candiadiasis). Melinda
Guest guest
I think Great Smokies labs can do a stool test to see if it's in your gut. Some docs will just prescribe a long course of antifungals if you have a history of recurrent yeast and antifungals seem to help. Guest guest
Yes, there are stool tests that will show systemic yeast, most insurance companies don't cover them. The one my dr. recommended was a full panel, for yeast, parasites, and other fungal/bacterial infections, and costs around $300. But honestly, most people with true systemic yeast can be diagnosed clinically based on symptoms. Melinda
