Hi:

How do you know it's BV if you don't go to a doctor? After a bout of BV in June 2006, I started getting this weird discharge. It turned out I got Group B Strep after using the antibiotics. I still have it because the best treatment is pennicillan and I'm allergic to it. When was the last time you went to a doctor to have it checked?

I tried boric acid capsules for the BV and yeast, but they didn't work at all.

Yep, i've started making him use condoms (in hopes that it would prevent this from happening). But it always seems to find me. I have no insurance so i cant go to the doc. I am looking into some herbal remedies to ease the symptoms. Hopefully I'll find something that works!Shopper56@... wrote:

Hi:

I have the same problem. I have a BV infection now (plus yeast) from the antibiotics. My doctor told me that some men have very alkaline sperm and it changes the PH of the vagina from acidic to alkaline. Then the bad bacteria grow and you get BV. This isn't the case in every situation, but it is a possiblity. I don't think it is the case with me. I've been with the same person for 30 years and these just started a few years ago. I think it is more age/hormone related.

Do you use condoms?

Also, I found that I have to stay on the antibiotic for at least 10 days. Sometimes 14 days to get rid of it. I always go back for a recheck to see if it's gone. Sometimes it's not.

The "V" Book by , MD gives a good explanation of BV. I'm pretty sure that there is a BV support group on yahoo.

Hello. I totally know what you are going thru...I am in the same boat you are except mine is yeast...every month I am back in the Dr. office for itching and irrtation and walk out of there with more prescriptions for the infections. I, too, thought i was allergic to him. It seemed everytime we had sex a week or two later I had the same symptoms as before. I thought maybe he had an infection and we were passing it back and forth. He, too, wonders why I am having so many problems. Sorry to hear about your struggle with this...I know we are not the only ones... I broke down last night and cried so hard because I discovered that it came back. I have a pretty much non-existent sex life. I know that I'm a clean person, and I do everything I can to prevent this annoyance from coming back. But, once again I have to try and explain to my hubby what this is and how it makes me feel emotionally.

Please help.

I had the same problem with yeast and bv, and my doc put me on daily diflucan for 28 days, then weekly diflucan for three months. Plus he treated the bv with clindamyacin. So far, so good. Lindsey

I've also had luck with clindamycim; About 5 days of metrogel to get rid of it, then daily clindamycin to keep it away. I went on a trip and forgot the clindamycin, and it was back within days. NEver had the problem before the vv, or maybe I did and the vv just lowered my tolerance. it's because the blood flow is reduced and creates the environment for infection. I've also struggled with bv...it's so frustrating. ~Chelle
