Guest guest
Sherri, I used Progesterone directly on the vulva and it too caused bleeding and nasty cramping. I gave it up, as you did, but because I have a uterus and because I have and elevated endometrial stripe every once in a while (a warning sign that cancer 'could' be present.... I must take progestins/progesterone by mouth cyclically to get that bleed. As you note, (I too have DV ) the bleed is very painful - but I am down to bleeding only a day and half now . We can take the progestin/progesterone every day and not get a bleed - just taking it daily. I end up with too much of the heavy creamy discharge that progesterone makes - and that too is irritating to the vulvar skin. So for me - the answer is cyclical Prog. and getting a bleed.RegardsDustyShopper56@... wrote: Hi Dusty: That's interesting. I didn't know that. The progesterone that I used was compounded at a pharmacy so there weren't any inserts. I only used it for two days. The first time I put it on at 10pm and woke up bleeding at 7am. The second night I used half as much, but I woke up bleeding half as much as the day before. I have DV and blood burns like acid, so that was the end of the progesterone. I also bled from DHEA. But I have no problems with E & T. Sherri -------------- Original message -------------- sherri, progesterone, when withdrawn is supposed to cause vaginal bleeding so as to slough off the endomentrial lining.while adjusting to the product and the correct dosage there can be breakthough bleeding/spotting, for about 6 months or so - I believe your medicine package insert says - as you find the right dosage and your body adjusts. It is pretty normal to have the bleeding and it should be self correcting as your body adjusts or as you and your doc adjust your dose. If you are cycling with the meds - then you get a "period" when you don't take it.Dusty <*>
