Guest guest
Hi, My inner labia has been swollen for 10 days now. I haven't had sex and I went to the Dr and they can't figure out what it is. One Dr said yeast, the other did not. I've tried diflucan, sitz baths, ice, advil, and now I'm on a steroid ointment. I'm also trying an ointment like A & D. Any thoughts on how to get rid of this. I can't even wear underewear or walk too far because it's so swollen. The dr didn't see any cysts. Thanks, Amy
Guest guest
amy, That is how my vulvodynia started. Just try and remember to stay relaxed (try mimicking the muscle movemnet used to pee, but don't push out). You don't want pelvic floor muscle spasm adding to your troubles. Has there been any sort of vaginal infection lately? UTI? Have you been doing alot of crouching for any reason?amesg31 wrote: Hi, My inner labia has been swollen for 10 days now. Guest guest
Continue the sits bath twice a day with no soaps or anything for about 20 minutes each time. Don't use a towel to dry off or air dry use a hair dryer on a warm setting, and try putting the A and D on after that. Keep taking ib proffen or advill they are good for anti imflamatories. When I had major problems with swelling i swiched not from just a soft londry soap but to the londry soap they use for babies. Darned if I can remember that now. I hope that the swelling goes down soon and that some of this helps. Candi Very Uncomfortable Hi, My inner labia has been swollen for 10 days now. Guest guest
Hi Amy, I just went through what you are describing, except in my case the swelling lasted 4 days and 4 horrible nights in which I would wake up at 3 or 4 am with burning and pain. Here's what I did: ice, advil 3 times a day (that's 4 pill 200 mg each at a time, less didn't work), running cold water on the area, no perfumed soaps, i put Vicks vapor rub on the area and it's uncomfortable at first, but it numbs the area after a few minutes ( i know this is not recommended long term). I gave up coffee or any kind of caffeine, gave up all yeast and sugar - at the advice of other people in the group. It's day 5 now and I'm able to wear underwear again. the swelling is down and only a little burning left. I plan to continue the anti yeast diet that has worked for other women in this group. I tried it last year and it pretty much eliminated my problem for months. Hope this helps and you get better soon. I'm so sorry. E. amesg31 wrote: Hi, My inner labia has been swollen for 10 days now. I switched to just a generic Free and Clear of all dyes and fragrances kind and it did wonders. I haven't tried A & D, but olive oil works well for me. Amy, is there ANYthing at all you've done differently over the last month or so? Sometimes we start eating a particular food more often or using a certain product and our bodies have a delayed reaction. It could even be a face cream or make-up or something. I noticed that I got a flare-up about a week after I dyed my hair at home. Also, bubble baths can be a big no-no, too. I've gotten flares from that. Keep us updated! Becky Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Yes, I agree. Sometimes it is the smallest thing! I ate some tomato sauce today and immediately after my labia felt swollen. I just put some sesame oil on it and will take a sitz bath later.I also recently stopped using cetaphil as my cleanser. I also use Free and Clear for detergent. I wash all my underwear separately too. <<Continue the sits bath twice a day with no soaps or anything for about 20 minutes each time. Guest guest
I honestly don't know my ghyno suggested it and I used it once, but since then I went back to using just regular soft soaps. My boyfriend and I are both todally blind and he grabbed that londry soap one day while doing his londry and didn't like smelling like baby for the next week. I told him he smelled adorable, but he didn't believe me. Candi Re: Very Uncomfortable <<Continue the sits bath twice a day with no soaps or anything for about 20 minutes each time. Guest guest
Sheila, I'm curious why you stopped using Cetaphil. I've always been told it was completely hypo-allergenic, great for sensitive skin, and safe to use down there even (unlike most soaps). Have I heard mistakenly? Thanks, ~~ Re: Re: Very Uncomfortable Yes, I agree. Sometimes it is the smallest thing! I ate some tomato sauce today and immediately after my labia felt swollen. Guest guest
Cetaphil contains two kinds of alcohol, propylene glycol, and parabens - all are known chemical irritants. I wouldn't touch the stuff, especially with my vulva! Melinda
Guest guest
That is exactly why I stopped. I always felt so dry after my shower and would have to goop on the sesame oil. So I just switched to this soap made of olive oil.Melinda, what soap do you use now? Cetaphil contains two kinds of alcohol, propylene glycol, and parabens - all are known chemical irritants. Guest guest
I try to just use warm water on my vulva, but if I need soap (and this is for any body part) I use Burt's bees. They have a mild baby soap as well as an adult shower gel that's nice. I am very picky about body care products and don't use anything if I don't know what one of the ingredients is.
