Guest guest
I found this on the PDR health site. " Side effects due to a rapid decrease in dose or abrupt withdrawal from Elavil include: Headache, nausea, vague feeling of bodily discomfort Side effects due to gradual dosage reduction may include: Dream and sleep disturbances, irritability, restlessness " The depression makes sense. This is a reuptake inhibitor, which means that more Norepinephrine, Dopamine and Serotonin in the nerve synapses. So when you go off it, suddenly there is less of these substances and it makes sense that depression could result. http://www.drugs.com/pdr/elavil.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tricyclic_antidepressant Lu --- Becky Thorn wrote: > <<I understand that since I'm stepping off, I > shouldn't > notice any, but I thought I'd check here to see if > anyone else felt > icky when stepping down from/stopping Elavil. > Mostly, I've been > really paranoid, reduced sleep quality, muscle > aches, and a general > feeling of malaise.>> > > Beth, > It could definitely be withdrawal symptoms. > When I weaned off Elavil, I had a major " episode " of > depression.
