Guest guest
Dear groups, I am now having trouble sitting, even in my recliner. My tail bone started hurting to sit in the car during my last trip to ton, SC a 2 1/2 hour drive. Then I had a very long trip to Denver. We flew but it takes 4 hours plus sitting in airports and waiting in Drs. Offices. If anybody has a donut cushion that they like and where to order it. Please let me know very soon because I am uncomfortable. For people who live in Columbia does anybody like the ones they sell at Hawthorne's. Thank you for your help. Guest guest
I too experience bouts of massive tailbone pain – there’s actually a name for it: coccyodynia. I’m quite fortunate that advil can keep the pain down to a dull roar. But when I experience a bout, I can’t sit for any length of time and sleeping becomes a real challenge. But the advil does help – when the pain is bad, I take 4 advil every four hours. I know that’s a lot of ibuprofen, but that’s what it takes. My chiropractor is also very skilled in pelvic and tailbone pain. She’s done wonders with my coccyx. In regards to donut cushions, they don’t help me and my chiropractor does not like them. I have a round hollow rubber cushion that’s about 1 ½” thick. The buttom of the cushion is covered in rubber nubs so that the cushion does slide. Unfortunately, the cushion doesn’t have its manufacturer printed anywhere on it. I see these cushions all the time in yoga supply stores. It’s quite comfortable and is a real help when I get tailbone pain. My tailbone pain is the result of a cracked tailbone I sustained 35 years ago. It’s always been a tad sore off and on – can’t sit on the floor for any length of time. But the coccyxdynia didn’t kick into until three years ago. Definitely part of my overall pelvic pain syndrome. Guest guest
I know people think I am crazy, but I still swear by my toilet seat idea. When I had my vulvar surgery for a few weeks (I had the most invasive kind) I was only comfortable while sitting on the toilet. I tried a donut cusion but quickly discovered it was designed for recal surgery and did not have the hole big enough or in the right spot. So in desperation I had my hubby go out and buy one of those soft seat toilet seats and I just removed the lid and carried that around. you could even make some sort of seat cover for it(to disguse the fact its a toilet seat) if you are handy with a sewing machine). Of course by the time I had reached the point where I needed that I could have cared less that people saw it. I was too numb to have any sort of dignaty left;) Bunny > > Dear groups, I am now having trouble sitting, even in my recliner. Guest guest
In my worst days I bought a cushy toilet seat for my (at home) office. I didn't buy the cushiest one and I still lightly touched the chair so it didn't work for me. The slightest touch at the time irritated me to no end. I wanted to buy a cushier one (I'm sure it would have worked) but hubby didn't like the toilet seat in our office. Now my pain has radiated to the back of my thighs and upper thigh and glute area so even sitting on a toilet isnt' comfy, dang it. Overall, it's a lower level of pain, though. > > > > Dear groups, I am now having trouble sitting, even in my recliner. > My tail bone started hurting to sit in the car during my last trip to > ton, SC a 2 1/2 hour drive. Guest guest
Not a bad idea! But might be kind of bulky depending on where you need to sit (like on a resturaunt chair or something). Guest guest
My hubby got over the toilet seat embarassment once he realized that when my bottom was happier that ment he was happier;) Seriously though, yes I did get the cushiest one, there are some less expensive cushy seats that can be purchased but they may not raise the bottom up enough to prevent contact with the chair your sitting on.
