Guest guest
I watch what eat. Certain foods seem to trigger itching. I also take Benedryl at bedtime sometimes and that seems to help a lot. susanSee AOL's top rated recipes and easy ways to stay in shape for winter. Guest guest
I need to avoid cow's milk, yeast, wine, beer, corn syrup, coffee,...and a few other things. It is different for everyone. Best to keep a food and symptom diary to figure it out. Also I am 45 and in perimenopause, but I have read that itching can be a symptom of that. Hormonal changes can trigger itching sometimes. I tested on the low side of testesterone and DHEA levels. I also use fragrance free soaps, and laundry detergents.See AOL's top rated recipes and easy ways to stay in shape for winter. Guest guest
Many people with acid reflux actually have a dairy or gluten intolerance or both. I used to see this all of the time when I worked in the health food store.See AOL's top rated recipes and easy ways to stay in shape for winter. Guest guest
Hey Cindy- I'm in the same boat you are and can't figure out what to do to stop the itching either. My gyno thinks it's also contact dermatitis on top of having vestibulitis and lichen sclerosis. I can't figure out how to stop the itching either. I get it inside and out as well. I'll try the clotrimizole/betameth cream as I have some in the house now... Let me know if you find out anything....I'll do the same for you. Ivy -- Re:Itching at night Hi all - I am new to this list and have been reading trying to figure out the different topics that people bring up. I have vaginitis that I can't seem to get rid of....newest doctor says it's contact dermatitis or something and recommended I stop using the baby wipes I usually use to clean myself mid-day and even soap "down there" for a while.... I get horrible itching at night and the only things that I've found to work for me is oral benadryl (as someone else suggested) and a prescription cream called Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate by Taro. It sometimes itches during the day as well, but I think I notice it most at night because I have no other distractions. I've also found that sleeping on my stomach or back with my legs spread slightly apart is better than on my side with my legs together making my itchy spots rub up against each other and make them itch more. ;-) My itching used to be on the flaps of skin (sorry, don't know the technical term) and stopped where the hairline started, but now it's the opposite - I don't itch on the bare skin area, but just around the areas with the hair. That's why my "new" doctor thinks it's dermatitis now, rather than vaginitis (before I was being treated for Strep B with MetroGel.) I don't have much burning, just terrible itching at night - sometimes it's worse than others, but everytime I wipe myself going to the bathroom - ugh, there it is again! Anyone tried anything that works to get rid of this? I can't imagine going through the rest of my life scratching myself down there all the time - I feel like Al Bundy from "Married with Children"! ;-) Cindy
Guest guest
cindy: it will stop. do some epsom salt baths. be sure to wash your WHITE undies separate and rinse them well. NO bleach please. Try some A & D Ointment to soothe. ml

Guest guest
I also use fragrance and dye free soaps and detergents and rinse everything twice. I went through menopause at 24 when I had a hysterectomy (I'm 47 now) and I've been on premarin for over 20 years now and my hormone levels are fine. I don't drink alcohol or caffeine but I do drink cows milk, but not at night. I generally don't eat or drink anything within at least 3 or 4 hours of bedtime as I have acid reflux also... I can't figure it out, lol. Thanks for the info though! Ivy -- Re: Re:Itching at night I need to avoid cow's milk, yeast, wine, beer, corn syrup, coffee,...and a few other things. Guest guest
I was on a gluten diet for almost a year and didn't see a bit of difference at all unfortunately. I did it voluntarily... Guest guest
Hi Cindy: I have chronic Strep B and have been treated with a lot of things, but never Metrogel. Are you allergic to pennicillan? That is the number one choice of drug treatment for Strep B. I'm allergic to it. Did the Metrogel work??
