Hi all,Quick question. I remember when I first started researching vulvodynia I read somewhere that Vitamin D and C could aggravate symptoms. has anyone ever had any experience with that? I went to go see a specialist this week and he is convinced that the vulvodynia is caused by inflammation from my IBS and has out me on an IBS heal intestinal tract kit which includes C & D. I have had pain since I started the powder and don't know if they are related. Any ideas?

Thanks and happy holidays to everyone :)Cindy

According to Dr. Solomon of oxalates fame, oxalates combine with the calcium

citrate in the colon and pass on through the colon but if Vitamin D is there the

calcium combines with the vitamin D and goes through the walls of the colon and

can get into the urine causing problems with some people who have oxalate

problems.

He recommends taking Calcium Citrate without Vitamin D for the above reason.

As far as taking Vitamin C some people take huge amounts of it and it could

probably cause problems (more than 1 gram daily) but I have been taking 1000

mg. (1 gram) daily for many years and it has never caused me any problems.

Hi Cindy:

Good luck with your treatment. My daughters vulvodynia was caused from her IBD. (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) (Crohn's Disease).

When the inflammation from the Crohn's was under control, her vulvodynia went away.

Hi:

It took a year. She took Pentasa, Asacol, Flagyl, Prednisone, Endocort and Prevacid. IBD is not the same as IBS. Who told you you had IBS and what tests did they do? Did you go to a GI doctor? Are you on any meds for the inflammation besides the vitamin C & D stuff?

I was diagnosed with IBS 7 years ago by a GI doctor and have been re-diagnosed by two GI's since. This doctor found a lot of inflammation in my back, thighs and pelvic area. He has set me up on all holistic/naturopathic pills and powders and said that he thinks I should feel better within 1-3 months. He believes that this will cure the IBS and the vulvodynia.

This is interesting because my gyno thinks I have IBS also and they do flare at the same time. I have an appt next month with my gastro doc and I'll mention it to him.

Thanks!
