Guest guest
I am trying to find out why benadryl helps vulva itching. What is it treating in the body that stops the itching. Do I have an allergy I am not aware of. What is the benadryl changing that stops the itching.
Guest guest
When a person has an allergy and are exposed to the allergen they produce histamine. Histamines cause itching and other things. Benadryl is an antihistamine. Therefore it fights histamine. You could have an allergy that you do not know about. Guest guest
How would I go about finding out what I am allergic to? Guest guest
You could go to an allergy doctor and spend big bucks to have allergy testing done and they might find that you are allergic to many things (those which they test). Also they might find that you are allergic to many things that don't give you any symptoms. Or you could use benadryl and thank your lucky stars that you found something that helps. I had allergy testing done when I discovered that I am allergic to cats. Found out that I am also allergic to horses, cows and goats along with some other things. Many years ago I had a series of shots (about a year's worth) for the cat allergy but finally quit going because they didn't help. Now when I am exposed to cat dander I take benadryl, but generally just stay away from cats. Horses and cows don't really bother me. But I think leather does, especially smelly leather. I also have trouble with latex (they didn't catch that one) but try to avoid it also. A few years ago I took some penicillin and had an anaphylactic reaction. I had never been allergic to it before but allergies often manifest themselves at a later date. I took some benadryl and called 911 but the ER doctor seemed to believe it was not the penicillin. He thought it was due to cystitis which showed up after a urinalysis and he wanted to give me a shot of penicillin, but I declined the honor. Guest guest
You know in the end I will probably just take the pill, but I want to investigate, it is my nature, but you girls have no idea how I feel, I have had vulvodynia since 1990. They knew nothing, and I am tired. Just plain tired. Since then I have had breast cancer twice, my husband is sick now, not to go into that, and it just is not fair I still have this problem. Venting, just helps the soul. Thanks
Guest guest
Hi, I don't know your name. I do know how you feel because I have had vulvodynia for a long time also and it seems like I just got more and more problems as the years have gone by and I also had a boyfriend who seem to get health problems later also. I am starting to think that all these problems are due to living in a toxic world because otherwise I can't understand it. Anyhow, just writing to say that I kind of know how you feel and I'm tired too. I am going to do something different and decided today to go see an environmental medicine doctor and get another perspective on this. Just know your not the only one who is tired but gotta keep trying things and stay hopeful and try whatever works for you. I am scared of the drug approach because I feel I got these problems after antibiotics.Take care, Baukti --- goodm15 wrote: > > You know in the end I will probably just take the > pill, > but I want to investigate, it is my nature, but you > girls > have no idea how I feel, I have had vulvodynia since > 1990. > > They knew nothing, and I am tired.
