Guest guest
Hey there Shana I'm currently waiting for upper, lower and chin surgery... I can't really tell you about my results yet, but do browse over the pictures, if the gallery is fixed now... I was floored by some of these results!! About the pain: I was told it's not worse than extracting your wise teeth. It's not that big of a deal. What is the deal is the uncomfort for the next few weeks... Check through the old messages to get an idea. By the way: don't let people around you tell you what you can or can't handle. *You* know, and it's what counts. If you're not happy with the way you look, and you think surgery can fix that, go right ahead. See you! Marlaine > Hi my name is Shana. I am 19 years old. I have to go through > Oral Surgery. Guest guest
Hi there Shana, I had lower done just over 3 weeks ago and I'm feeling pretty good. For myself, there was not much pain to talk about. I was OK just taking Advil or Tylenol. I was banded with a slint; not being able to talk and " eating " only fluids was the worst part I think! Although there are good recepies our there for liquid stuff and you get to drink yummy milkshakes!!! Now the bands I have I can remove to eat (I can't chew as the bones take 6 weeks to heal so you have to keep the food soft ie: mashed potatoes, pasta, soups...) and now the only pain I have is muscle pain, because everything is so stiff! But again, it's not really pain, more like an ache. So if you are really unhappy with you mouth right now, I would say go for it. Keep in mind though that everyone reacts differently, but that was my experience. I actually thought it was going to be worst than what it was... Feel free to ask any questions, people on this site are really helpful! Good luck! Caro
Guest guest
If it reassures you any, I had lower advancement Jaw surgery in June 2002, at age 56. And I was every bit as terrified as you sound, when I first heard about it. But in truth, I had no trouble with it. I did take the painkillers my docs gave me, morphine or demerol iv the first night, and Lortab on and off for about a week. But they controlled any pain I had, and I do not remember having any significant. I did not swell significantly. Had none of the problems with nausea or bleeding that others have had (but I did bruise big-time). I am very pleased with my results, and have no numbness -- never did. Truly, looking back, the dreading it and the fear were worse than the surgery, for me anyhow. Sometimes our friends and famlies just cannot understand about these procedures. I wonder whether people having other reconstructive prpocedures are given so much hassle by friends. Just remember that this is surgical repair of a skeletal problem. And it's your mouth and face, and you are the one who's entitled to make the decisions about how it functions best for you. Cammie > Hi my name is Shana. I am 19 years old. Guest guest
Honey, I DID have it, and it was soooo much easier than I ever thought it would be! I was fortunate, and my surgeon was skilled, and everything just went right for me. But with a skilled surgeon and angels sitting on your shoulder, a procedure on the lower jaw alone can be a simple matter for your surgeon to do, and your recovery can be simple as well. I did have minimal movement, which also helped, and I was in very good health going in. And yes, not only your teeth but your jaw joints can be damaged by a bad bite. I think it was well worth doing, for me, and I hope your decision, whatever it turns out to be, and your procedures will serve you as well. cammie > Hi Cammie! How are you? I hope fine. I am ok. Guest guest
Hi my name is Adam and I really think my mom has BPD. Something has been up with her for the last few years. I'm not sure if it was my sister getting married and moving out that changed her but she isn't the same. She is sending emails to my friends and boyfriend telling them that I am an angry person and they are the reasons why. Tonight she told me she wanted to send me to a fat camp. I'm 32 and she tells me this. I said no and then she runs and emails them. She is trying to push my best friend and boyfriend away from me. Even told my boyfriend that she used her nephew to look up his past. I am worried of what she will do. I still live at home which I know is problem number 1 but I'm trying to do that, but in the meantime she is telling people she is going to have me admitted. My sister who just had a baby goes through the same thing. My mom says her husband is a drunk and then tells me that her baby doesn't get enough love so I turn around and tell them that which she denies. My dad never wants to get involve because he doesn't want to deal with her. She constantly says to me if I argue with her that she is such a horrible parent. I don't know what to do. Please help. Thank you, Adam
