Good luck with your new MRI. Definitely let us know

what they find. I thought they couldn't see nerves on

MRI's though? I'm curious about finding out more

about the MRN. I wonder if that would help me at all.

Does Dr. Conway know anything about this? I had the

EMG test done with Conway and they didn't tell me

where I had the delay. But they also told me that

most people have some slight form of " entrapment " (and

i use that term very lightly just meaning not 'loose'

around the muscle) but it doesn't hurt them, unlike

us. Which is why I don't know if I necessarily think

that's my problem because the only place I have pain

is the clitoral area and the blocks didn't work.

Yes, please let me know what that nerve is called when

you get a chance to look at your anatomy book. I

looked through the online library from my school but

couldn't find anything good. I'll have to make a trip

to the actual library one day soon and check out all

the nerves there.

Very small nerve branches may not show up on MRI but other

nerves can show up on MRI. That's how I found out around this

time last year that the nerve canal (learned the correct term

for clarification purposes so I can correct someone about

something they told me the other day) around L4 and L5 nerves

are narrowed but no compression issues.

But we are going to try this MRI with me sitting up to see what

it shows compared to the traditional position. This kind of MRI

with doing it sitting, standing, and other positions only used

to be available up north. It is now available here in my area.

It's called Fonar MRI.

I did talk to Dr. Conway about some other things because the

reasoon I called him about nerve issues was in related to

endometriosis. We never got in to the MRN issue.

Just type in MR Neurography (I don't have the link right now)

and it will take you to a site run by a Dr. Fuller (I

think that's his name) and the site is pretty interesting. I

did call their office to find out if it was ever going to be

available in FL (that's where I'm located) and they said no.

The difference between MR Neurography and regular MRI is that

the magnet is a 3.0 Tesla. Most MRI machines are a 1.5 Tesla.

The rates have to do with how fast the pictures load when taken.

(I did a ton of research in to MRI last year)

With an MRI machine of 3.0 Tesla because of how strong the

magnification is it can make some people sick, apparently

because they aren't used to such a strong magnet. With these

faster magnets in the MRI and the loading of the pictures it it

is supposed to make the pictures clearer. This is also kind of

where MR Neurography comes in but because the technology is

still pretty new the insurance companies may not cover it. Time

will tell if MR Neurography starts to become more available in

other parts of the country like the MRIs using sitting, standing

and other positions is starting to become available.

When you go to the library look for an anatomy book called Atlas

of Human Anatomy by Dr. Netter. It's an excellent book.

I bought a copy for myself about 5 years ago when I had a job at

the time. It was an expensive book but it was worth the money.

I eventually want to get the one he did on the gyn aspect solely

so that I can study those pictures even more clearly. That will

have to wait til I get a job. But any way, I love this book by

Dr. Netter because the pictures are so easy to look at.

Kristy :)
