Guest guest
MEDS I did get some relief from amitriptyline but when I added neurontin the effects were even better. My doctor (the President of the National Vulvodynia association) said that you need to stay on the meds for about a year even if you are getting relief. Although I did not continue to see her due to finances (saw her 3-4 times) I did follow up with my gynecologist. I started lowering dosages about 14 months after starting meds. (Taking amitriptyline will cause drowsiness etc. However, if you build up very gradually your body does get used to it. I did gain weight and I became a gum chewer and mint sucker to deal with the dryness. But it was worth it!!! And now the weight is coming off!) I was fine for a couple of months with no meds after weaning off then I had some problems again. I started the amitriptyline at a low dosage and it helped a bit. I stopped that and tried 100mg of neurontin and that has been good. I think that there is more than one type of vulvodynia and more than one cause. What will help is dependant on what the cause is. UNDERWEAR For me, the Jockey microfiber PANTY is really soft, breatheable and wearable. The one I use also has a flap over the crouch so you can put a panty liner under the flap is you want. Guest guest
I think I only went up to 1200mg daily. But I was also taking the amitriptyline. I went up to 150mg on that but quickly brought it down to 100mg, I think.
