Guest guest
For those of you who have taken Lyrica or Neurontin I have some questions. Did either help at all with any of your pain: bladder or vulvar? What kind of side effects did/do you have? I want to give the Lyrica a try, but I'm a little nervous right now about possible side effects. If the Lyrica helps with nerve pain it very well may help me determine if my pain with sitting (Pudendal Neuralgia) is all nerve related or mainly from the bone spur along my sacro-coccygeal joint. Thanks so much, Chelle
Guest guest
I took amitriptyline and neurontin. The " cocktail " helped me a lot. Currently I am only taking 100mg. of neurontin daily and I am doing well. Diane -- In VulvarDisorders , Chelle wrote: > > For those of you who have taken Lyrica or Neurontin I have some questions. Guest guest
Hi Chelle,I have been on the Neurontin for over a year now. I have vulvar LP and I think that some of my discomfort is related to the nerves because I have been suffering from this for so long and was undiagnosed for so long. Particularly at 12 o'clock is where I believe most of my nerve issues are. That is my worst area and the most difficult to control. Prior to using the Neurontin, I could not even wear my jeans and when I did I was unable to walk up stairs due to the pain. It is sometimes an aching pain and sometimes a sharp pain and also sometimes pins and needles. I am up to 2700 mg a day and would never be able to deal with this without the Neurontin. I did take a break and tried Lyrica per Dr. Elizebeth . She thought it may help even more because my skin looked very good at the time, but I still had lots of discomfort in that 12 o'clock area. I tried it for 3 months. It was no diff. from the Neurontin as far as pain control, but I had a headache (migraine) almost every day and also gained 8 pounds. I have since changed back to Neurontin. When I first started taking the Neurontin, I noticed dizziness, but that went away. Other than that, I had no side effects. Good luck. Guest guest
Chelle, I've mentioned this before, but Lyrica and Cymbalta both did nothing for me. But I have low tolerance for side effects. I was sleepy, super dry mouth, and really bad constipation. For me, it wasn't worth it. But you have very different issues, so it's probably worth a try! Guest guest
Hi Chelle, I take 300 mgs of lyrica a day, I don't have any side effects, but it does nothing for the vulvar pain. I was actually given it for fibro. For those of you who have taken Lyrica or Neurontin I have some questions. Did either help at all with any of your pain: bladder or vulvar? Guest guest
Chelle, I did Neurontin in the late 90s for a different nerve problem and I found that as long as I took the medication in combination with another medication it worked great. When I would take it by itself it did nothing. My Pain Management doctor mentioned Lyrica to me (it's the second time I've had a doctor mention Lyrica to me, the last time was last year by the Neurologist) and I have to say I'm not comfortable with the idea of trying it. Guest guest
Kristy: I take Lyrica. 75mg at nite is all. It works for me. What other drug did you take in combo with Neurontin which did not work for me? Why are you hesitant about Lyrica? It is called the new Neurontin and I had to get a PRIOR AUTHORIZATION from my doc to get approved by Health Ins. hugs, ML Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
