My mental image of my family

I was talking to my brother today, who is the one member of my family with whom

I have a good relationship.

When we were talking I was telling him about the mental image I have of our

other family members, and he encouraged me to post it, so here goes.

When I imagine my family, of which most members have BPD (there's also some mix

of Schizoid and Avoidant PDs in there too, but most members have BPD) I imagine

a giant pool of green, primordial ooze out of which both my brother and I

somehow emerged into evolved beings. I imagine us both standing at the edge of

the ooze pool as various members of our family start poking out appendages,

trying to drag us both back in. We are both basically playing whack-a-mole

beating back the arms and feet that come sticking out of the ooze trying to grab

us in.

The illness is just so insiduous, and so rampant, but both he and I were lucky

to have evolved out of it!!!

I like this. Especially the " appendages " slipping out of the ooze reaching for

you. It is like a horror movie at times. Well said.
