Guest guest
I was a dancer, cheerleader, and gymnast when I was younger and was really active before all of this happened. I am now getting back into it. I don't run anymore, but I do yoga, elliptical, and belly dancing classes, plus lots of walking. Physical therapy has been a huge help, have you gotten into see a physical therapist yet? Lindsey Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search. Guest guest
My PT and I were talking about this yesterday, about how she see SO many athletes in her practice! And because I'm pregnant, we were talking about tearing and she said that all the athletes she sees tend to tear badly because their pelvic floors are so tight. Thought it was interesting. It's good to discover and be able to treat now! I guess I'm lucky in a way, I've always hated exercise and although I hate my diagnosis, I don't mind having an excuse to not be super-active. =) Melinda
Guest guest
I am working with a PT now and she thinks I should get back into exercising. Nothing strenuous, but she thinks the aerobic exercise is crucial to healing. She even thinks I could try to ski before the end ofthe season, but only for an hour or so to see how it goes. I've been nervous about it, but am getting more antsy to get moving again so here's hoping it helps more than hurts! > > I was a dancer, cheerleader, and gymnast when I was younger and was really active before all of this happened. Guest guest
I find that my pain makes me extremely tired and I too am an active person, so yes I can relate and it can be very frustrating! Especially when you love Mt. Biking. Tina. Re: Any athletes out there? i was a division I collegiate runner before thishappened. i had been running (sprints/middledistance/cross country) for 8 years and before that iwas a gymnast for 4 years and a competitive dancer for11 years. And to make things worse, i work incollegiate athletics so i am ALWAYS around intensecompetitive sports. it was extremely hard for me toadjust and the best way that i have been able to is tokeep reminding myself that i'd rather take a breakfrom sports and activity until i get better than tokeep dealing with this pain.--- krs0204 <krsackowitz (AT) comcast (DOT) net> wrote:> I am new to VVD (diagnosed in Nov), and would love> to commiserate with > people who, like me, were highly physically active> before this > situation.
