That is the most sensible article I have ever seen on

this issue with that particular doctor almost reaching

sainthood.

From the article:

" Dr. Slocumb: " Sure, there are a couple of things that

we need to recognize here that it's really our

instinct to go to where the patient says it hurts and

blame that tissue as being the cause, when actually

it's the nerves feeding that area that seem to be a

interval part of this mechanism. So we blame where it

hurts rather then the source of those nerves that are

creating this hypersensitive tissue. Unfortunately, we

end up doing treatments that actually may make the

area worse, like removing organs and doing that nerve

surgery to try to change that. "

I add:

And even if the source of the pain is the spine that

doesn't mean they need to remove the spine or stick

needles in it or insert more and better

pharmaceuticals (I am being snarky). But they do need

to find out what attacks the nerves in the spine to

cause all of this.

Gluten attacks the central and peripheral nervous

system, causes also the proliferation of nerves. A

bunch of extra nerves where they don't belong causes

pain--neuromas? trigger points?. It does cause all

kinds of other nerve problems in addition. (see Latov

and Hadjivasseliou, two neurologists who do research

on the relation of Celiac to nervous system).

The problem still remains that the common way of

diagnosing Celiac Disease is totally useless for

diagnosing Gluten Sensitivity and exceedingly

incaccurate for diagnosing Celiac Disease.
