Hi Carolyn,

Oatmeal in its natural form has no gluten or rather

the kind of gluten that affects us like in wheat, ryr,

or barley.

However, if it is processed in a mill that also

processes wheat, barley, or rye it is contaminated and

has the stuff in it.

I buy gluten free oatmeal on the internet.

Gluten is the major thing. But, usually one finds down

the road that they may be also sensitive to milk

proteins and they cause a lot of trouble. I think it

is 80% of gluten sensitive people who are also

sensitive to milk proteins.

Many gluten sensitive people also have trouble with

other grains. But as I say, gluten is the main thing

to start with. If one is 100% gluten free it shouldn't

be too long before you notice the difference in how

you feel but it can take months I am told for the body

to get rid of the antibodies.

I think keeping an open mind about possibly food

sensitivities as you go along on a gluten free diet is

good idea. Your body has really been attacked and

strained in many ways if you are sensitive to gluten

and you really need to take care of yourself. This

isn't a simple allergy but is a big bad complex

disease that unfortunately the medical system doesn't

understand very well. Not eating junk is a good idea.

Processed foods are really bad for everybody.
