I have noticed that when I occasionally take it to sleep, I have have some of my best days and least amount of pain the next day. Not every time I take it, but enough that I am curious. Thanks!Meg Meg, I haven't used Ativan myself, but I do believe that some women have been helped by taking the meds that act as muscle relaxers, like the Ativan, Valium, Xanax...etc. Have you mentioned it to your doc? It might be worth looking into if it's given you 'some' relief. ~Chelle

When I have slight pain during the day, that evening I will take half ativan and historically the next day will always be pain free for me. I'm wondering if its because it does something to the nerves or if it does something to the pelvic muscles? Also, wondering if I should just take ativan and nothing else when the pain shows up. I am currently on 10mg of elavil. Also, what kind of doctor would diagnose pelvicmyoneuropathy- I am thinking if I truly had pn (which I was diagnosed with) I would not have the pain free days I experience after just the half ativan at night? thanks

Hi Tom,

Your guess is as good as mine, my neurologist said that ativan is a nerve stabilizer and works on the central nervous system and that is why it could work so well. My pharmacist said no its not a nerve stabilizer it just works to calm you down, and when calmed down you perceive pain differently, something to this effect?

But this is the entire whole next day after, I have no pain. So I am thinking the ativan would be out of my system but for some reason the day or days after taking one I have no pain. So I am pretty much in the dark why this would be and Im so sick of dealing with doctors that can't explain the reasons for things happening.

Tom, do you have certain insurances you accept? My insurance covers pt, but out of network I think its 50%

Or, could it be that the ativan helps to get a good night sleep.

When your seritonin levels are up, your pain is down.

Hi Carolyn,

I agree with the Pharmacist, they are much more up on the drugs than the

docs who prescribe them. Big Pharma will produce a drug for one thing but

tell doctors it can be used for this and than and the other thing. The FDA

does not allow them to openly advertise for alternative diagnosis / uses

unless It has been approved for such. But... that does not stop Big Pharma

from telling docs about alternative uses. Just so long as they don't

officially advertise to the public. It amounts to a few extra billion a

year and is a legal way to get around the FDA rules.

The fact that calming you down has such a profound effect on the VV

symptoms only strengthens my position that being emotinally upset makes

things much worse. Emotions play a huge part in this and all chronic pain

syndromes.

That is why I also promote EFT and am including it in my Women's Pelvic

courses.

YOu are right,I do not take insurance as payment in full except for

worker's comp and Medicare. If I treat you while I am out and about in the

USA teaching, I would not charge you. If you come to see me at my clinic

it would be $185 for the initial visit and $135 for each visit thereafter

if you pay out of pocket as we go along. That is a 50 dollar savings over

what we charge to use the insurance company.

Tom: YOU are so correct. I agee with you one hundred percent. ATTITUDE is

everything. Once I calmed down and took an aggressive mind set that I CAN

MANAGE the pain, that was the beginning of everything. EMOTIONS are God

given and are not WRONG. HOW I manage my emotions is the key to healing.

thanks for your sharing heart, Tom. hugs, ML
