Guest guest
What's the difference between manipulation with a DO vs. a chiropractor? Melinda
Guest guest
Melinda, One of the differences (and I asked my Pain Management doctor about this too because she's a DO) is that the work that DOs do is much more gentle than that of chiropractors. I had to have her put a couple of things back in place in the past 6 months or so. One of them my sacrum. Guest guest
Thanks for the answers re: DO vs. chiropractic. I love my chiropractor but see what you mean now that you explain it. Have never been able to find a DO near me. Melinda
Guest guest
Melinda, DOs specialize in different areas just like MDs. They can specialize in anything from General Surgery (yep, some DOs do surgery too) to Pain Management to Rheumatology just to name some examples. The second difference with DOs also has to do with a difference between them and some MDs. Even though DOs do make use of conventional treatments they also use alternative treatments in addition to bodywork when called for to help the patient. In your phone book, can't remember if you are close to a big city or not, in the physician section the DOs will be listed first in the book and there will be a listing of their specialties, and then the last section is the MDs section and the breakdown for their specialties. Just wanted to mention this in case you ever decide to consider one for another opinion but am glad that you like your chiropractor. I went to one as a kid and I won't go back especially since my Pain Management doctor can do the same things and much gentler which is important to me since fibromyalgia is one of my many health problems.
