Guest guest
I took ativan before Emma, it just kinda relaxes you. It works really good for my pain I suppose thats because it probably relaxes the pfm. My pharmacist told me that ativan and valium are very similar and that they do have a tendency to be addictive. He suggested only taking half an ativan every three days. CarolIt's Tax Time! Get tips, forms and advice on AOL Money Finance.

Guest guest
He said 5 mg at nightime. But he said I should probably take half that b/c I am a small person. I should try and take it every night he said. I haven't taken it yet. > > Emma, > > what dosage did Dr G think you should take of the valium and how often? > > C > > > > **************It's Tax Time! Guest guest
That is an awful lot – and it is very addictive. Yahoo has a group of over 1000 people who are trying to get off the benzo’s (valium, ativan). I take one when I am desperate, and it really does help I admit, but I am not going to get hooked. The yahoo group is open (I think) to everyone so you could just drop in and read some of the posts and see what people have to say. Some people have to break 1m tablets down into ¼’s and then at the end mix the dust with water. This does not affect everyone like this, but you never know if you will be the one or not. I almost got into that trap seven years ago when my mother died, and the doctor gave ativan to sleep. It wasn’t long before I couldn’t sleep without it. I got off of it but it took six months. If you read about it, some say that it changes the chemistry and the nerve endings in the brain. I don’t know if that is true or not. But I admit it does help if you need it. Muscle relaxers, like Zanaflex work almost as well and they are not addictive. Some of these things I learned the hard way, so that is why I write in with posts in hopes to keep others from making the same mistakes that I did when I was first starting out. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Carolyn52192@... Guest guest
Thanks for the heads-up on Valium and addiction. I will certianly keep that in mind, and use the lowest dose possible (2.5 mg) for the shortest time that I can. I am so not into medications, but I need to get my muscles to relax. Thank you. > > That is an awful lot – and it is very addictive. Yahoo has a group of over > 1000 people who are trying to get off the benzo's (valium, ativan). Guest guest
Valium is a strong sedative. And about six or eight hours after taking it, the anxiety, etc. returns with a vengeance. I took it a few times but only once at a time, I did not succumb to the urge to take another one when the withdrawals set in.
