A kegel consists of two maneuvers, one to tense the muscles and the other to

relax them. Some folks only concentrate on the tensing and do not put enough

importance on the relaxing part. I would assume that the pelvic drop would be

the relaxing part.

However I would be careful to not do something that might cause problems.

Hello, I'm new to all of this..I live in Maine and am 49. I've been recently diagnosed with Vulvar Lichen Sclerosis and it seems that it runs in the family. My mom recently told me she's had it since 2000 and her sister has had it since twenty years ago. Now, I'm faced with the painful decision as to whether or not to tell my 26 year old daughter. She is disease free and happy. She hasn't a clue about me. My daughter lives in ottawa, ont. canada . I'm remarried now but I'm formally from Ontario myself. I've recently discovered the only support group here in US , it's in Boston. My heart goes out to each and every one of you out there with Vulvar Disorders. It's so unfair to all of you. I wish you all the very best.

Hi Sue, and welcome to this list!

I was recently diagnosed too, but with volvodynia, tho I'm not

sure this is the correct diagnosis and will be getting a second

opinion, and a third if need be. From reading the posts so far

here, I gather there is hope for recovery, so please don't

despair or give up just yet.

If my mother had a V disorder I would want to know about it,

especially if it runs in the family--interesting, I wonder how

common the genetic component is in the general population. But

I can understand your desire to protect your daughter. It's a

hard decision only you can make. Were you angry when your

mother told you she had it, or did you wish she had told you

earlier?
