Guest guest
Dear Jean: Bob has quite a few eye problems. At the moment they are under control. He had laser treatment for glaucoma. He has macular degeneration - which on testing seems to have stabilized a little. The scary thing is the " little people " . Just this evening - after a long time not mentioning them - he said there was a small girl sitting in the room with us. When this condition first started the Dr. cut down slowly on his meds - especially the Sinemet and Levodopa/Carbidopa but he still takes the Mirapex. He is still taking a very small amount of the Sinemet and Levo/Carbidopa but now he also takes Seroquel. I keep a journal on a chart of his meds to see if there is any connection and so far it's hard to figure. I was really surprised because over Thanksgiving he was really good. We had a large crowd here and even a new Great-Grandson. He loved the baby and seemed to have everything straightened out as to who was who. He will see the Neurologist again in a few weeks and maybe she will increase the Seroquel. I have been pressing her to start him on Aricept but with all the changes she has resisted so far. She says to wait a while and see how the Seroquel works. We had just increased it a little bit in the evening. You mentioned " little people " so I thought I would reply. I was disappointed myself to think that they were back - though Bob is slowly getting more and more confused about a lot of things. Lately - when he wakes me for a pee call - he will sit on the commode and forget what he is there for. I will only notice when I help him up to get back into bed that he didn't go and he will say. He forgot or he didn't remember what he was there for. Maybe he will straighten out - all the people and off-schedule and confusion of Thanksgiving even has me confused which isn't too hard to do. I was in the store before the Holiday and had a big list and checked things off as I went - Iooked at " onion dip " (some of my Grandchildren's favorite) and for some reason didn't pick it up. I even checked the list twice and walked right out of the store without it. I hope my mind comes back after the Holidays. Of course I told the kids and everybody brought plenty of dip - we had too much. Maybe soon we will both be back on track. I think it is scary when they see things that aren't there but Bob says if he sees them how does he know they are not there? He has gone a long time without mentioning them - I hope it's just doing too much over Thanksgiving and he will get back on track. Take care, Pat and Bob in Framingham MA
