Guest guest
My Daughter is 5 months has been diagnosed with Troticolis since she was 2 months. She has pagio on the right side and her asymmetry seems to be getting better since we started PT when she was 2 months old. Since her face is not symmetrical yet, we went for a DOC band evaluation. Her measurements are Cranial vault asymmetry 10mm, mid-face asymmetry 5mm, and skull base asymmetry 8mm. Are these measurements considered mild or less than mild? Our pediatrician didn't think she needed a band yet but the Cranial Tech people thought she should get one. From your experience, will this asymmetry correct itself without a band? We are not sure she needs a DOC band. What do you think? Nadege Chicago, IL
Guest guest
Hi Nadege, it can be very difficult to tell from the measurements how bad the Plagiocephaly truly effects the childs appearence. For a few lucky children it will round out but for some children it does not. My son is 21 months old and he still has an obvious assymetry in his head and face. Cranial Technologies has a good reputation for not reccomending banding to children who don't need it. Good luck no matter what you decide.
