Guest guest
I agree with whomever said. Find a different doctor. I finally went to my family doc and stopped seeing gyns. She gave me bioidentical estrogen and testosterone cream. Also I had asked for an antifungal called Nystatin that I took orally and she gave me that too! Unfortunately many of us have had to see SEVERAL doctors before we find one that will sympathize with us and listen to OUR treatment suggestions that we have learned have helped others on this board. Guest guest
I'm sorry Lulubuns. I'm no expert but it sure sounds like you need to shop around for a different doctor. Don't despair - my wife has vulvar vestibulitis and it can be managed over time. The moderators and regular contributors of this forum have fantastic suggestions and all work very diligently to help themselves and each other. One thing I've learned from reading and seeing a therapist is that there is no one magic bullet. Your relief will likely be a combination of several treatments.Best wishes - lulubuns wrote: my biopsy was benign so it is being diagnosed vulvar vestibulitis. All the doctor said was "it will go away some day". Steroid cream made it worse and the doctor doesn't want to give me estrogen cream so I am not sure what to do, I am also allergic to lidocaine. I am pretty much convinced i will just have to be in pain for the rest of my life and will never be able to have sex. Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. As for the doctor - if he/she is not listening to you, not willing to work with you (especially about not allowing you to at least 'try' the Estrace cream or something you would like) - then try to find another doc. It is just draining to put up with bad docs. Try asking here on the group for a recommendation for someone in your area. Try the NVA - they have a list of docs for each state. One other thing, since you know for sure it is vestibulitis/vestibulodynia - have you tried Physical Therapy? PT has helped many! Have a good cry if you need too, vent, journal - but don't give up!!! I speak from 16 yrs. of vulvar pain -- but for the last 3, I've been doing much better! Don't give up! Hugs, Chelle
Guest guest
Doctors frequently do not want to prescribe estrace because the directions that come with it state to use a plunger full in the vagina but using only a pea-size amount topically to the vulva is a lot different than using a much larger amount directly into the vagina. lulubuns wrote: >my biopsy was benign so it is being diagnosed vulvar vestibulitis. Guest guest
Topical estrace is a GIVEN for vestibulitis. In the doses that you would use it (a small peasized amount) the effect on your hormones is negligible according to some doctors. Seriously...find a different doc. The one good thing about them is they told you it will go away someday. That is helpful because for many of us that can be true. However, it will go away QUICKER if you receive proper treatment and it sounds as if you are getting no treatment at all. Keep interviewing docs until you find a good one that will work for you. Take good care of you, Lindsey
Guest guest
There are so many things you can do! I used to think I would never get better either. Please dont' give up hope yet. I had to try so many things, over the course of years, before I found relief. You can experiment with dietary changes, oral pain meds, physical therapy, etc. You can find a different doctor who knows more than to say, " It will just go away " . Baloney. It probably won't go away on it's own but there are things you can do! Lidocaine didn't do a thing for me either...but there are so many other options!
