Thanks (the long-lost) Mace, so help me, I was just thinking about you and trying to figure out if I had an updated email address to check on you. HOW ARE YOU DOING? I'm heading down to NC (from WV) to see Dr. next week. I have one small area of v.skin I want her to check out. Do you still see her? It's so good to hear from you. Hugs, Chelle PS - I'll forward your post to Dee, she may know!

Hi. My email address is " mary@... " .

I'm doing great! (I mean, I still have VV but life in general is good)

My daughter is on a Study Abroad in Thailand, and my husband and I

just went for a visit. It was so beautiful!

Take care and I'll talk to you soon.

HI ....

Like Chelle, so nice to see your name hon. ;)

About the Lamictal, (Lamotrigine) I believe it's technically an extended-release epilepsy drug and it has been used similiar to other neuro medications (antiseizure or antidepressants) for V pain issues, so it's not surprising to see a doctor suggest it. I used to have a bit of info about it but lost it. *Doggonit*... I also remember one member who said she was constantly stimulated sexually but could never achieve climax... (no idea if that's common or not, but what a 'bummer')

I do have a few things though, this one is from Feb '08 and I hope it doesn't frighten you... about an FDA alert on it and some others.

''The FDA, in an alert posted to its Website, said that it looked at nearly 200 clinical studies involving 11 drugs and found a doubling of the risk of suicidal thinking or behavior. The drugs include Topamax by & ( JNJ), Lamictal by GlaxoKline PLC (GSK), Pfizer Inc.'s (PFE) Lyrica, and Novartis AG's (NVS) Tegretol and Trileptal.

Topamax is also approved to treat migraine while Lyrica is approved to treat certain pain conditions from diabetes, shingles and fibromyalgia. The four companies either could not immediately comment on the FDA's alert or didn't immediately return requests for comment.''

Interesting seeing just yesterday the FDA also came out with a risk for Singulair (sometimes used w. V pain relief too) with the same suicidal ideations. *sigh* Personally those types of drugs aren't anything 'I' would try, but I know others have used those hon and if it helps who's to say. ;) And here's a link about Lamictal

http://www.mentalhealth.com/drug/p30-l06.html

Good luck hon, sure wish there was an easy answer. *sigh* Dee~

PS; also sent a CC to your personal address (just in case).

(Thanks Chelle) ;)

Hi, ,

It's funny...I just looked up this medication for a client of mine

today. I'm a psychotherapist (I'm NOT a doctor, but have to have

training in psychotropic medications) and he was rx'd it by his

psychiatrist for bipolar d/o. I found it was in the same category as

neurontin and is rx'd for pain including migraines and nerve pain. As

I was scrolling through the side effects I was surprised to see that

one of the side effects could be vaginitis. Hmmm...something to be

aware of. I will double-check but it is possible that neurontin,

something that many of us have been rx'd, also has the side effect of

vaginitis...something we DON'T NEED.
