Guest guest
Cindy is right....bile duct cancer is not the same thing. I had seen it on my biopsy report but my bile duct cancer was invasive, there were dysplasia cells in the pancreas. But it was still treatable and I do believe what Cindy says is true that having a positive attitude helps to battle this disease. I do think you need to be aggressive in any kind of treatment when precancer cells are involved. But that is me talking right now, 3 years ago I wasn't so aggressive in my treatment until it was almost too late. Guest guest
, My husband, Lonnie, had UC/PSC since 1987. He's 41 right now. In late 2000, he had two colonoscopies that detected high grade dysplasia. We elected to have his colon removed completely and have a j-pouch created with his small intestine (it's very common in the UC world). He continues to have problems with the pouch, but it is handled with daily antibiotic. Stay strong. Stay tuned to this group and you will get TONS of information to help you get through this. How many of you have/had dysplasia in your bile ducts?
Guest guest
Hi, , I'm also here because of my husband and I know how terrifying it can be. And the high risk of cancer associated with PSC is one of the most frightening parts. I'm not sure where you are or which doctors you see, but if my husband had these same findings I would do my best to see if he could get an appointment at Mayo in Rochester, Minnesota. Doctors Lindor and Gore are well- known on this website and they seem to have a special treatment protocol for biliary tract cancers. Also, the Mayo system in general is well-known for its approach to work-ups, which is incredibly thorough and would not doubt address any concerns about the dysplasia in his colon. Recently Tom, one of the group members, had a big work-up at Mayo and wrote in detail about what he went through. I recommend that you search through the recent postings and read his comments. Know also that if you have any specific questions lots of people here have been to Mayo and you will likely find some answers! Best of luck and take heart - there is a lot you can do. Best, Nina in Philly On ERCP done 1 yr ago, dysplastic cells were found. > Colonoscopy done last week found dysplasia there also.
