Guest guest
Tina, This the standard practice at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. They have found that this practice really helps recovery because the body swells a lot after the tx. Leaving the muscle facia open allows for the body to adjust better and also allows for easier opening up if there are any complications. My tx was hopelessly boring. Two days after TX, my wife and I walked about a mile outside the hospital. I left the wheelchair behind and picked it on my way back. Needless to say, this was not for complication purposes. Last I heard, IU was 3rd or 4th in the nation. They are very progressive. Dan > > Dan, > > Did they give you a reason why they did your operation that way. Did you have complications of some sort that caused them to do this type of operation where they go back in to close up the muscles. I can't remember exactly what the complications were but, just curious why they would do that? Thanks Tina > > > Re: athan 's transplant > > athan, > > Such great news.
