Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, I have Interstitial Cystitis and when it flares I have burning when I urinate. If you feel like you have a UTI and keep testing negative for them there's a very good chance that you do have IC. To definitively diagnose it you can do one of two things: You can either have your doctor do the bladder instill OR you can try going on the Interstitial Cystitis diet which is what I did. I had 2 doctors diagnose me with IC and I didn't want to go for the instill either. I didn't believe I had IC. So my gyno told me about the diet and I tried it and viola! No more symptoms. Now it's not that way for everyone who has IC, it depends on how bad you have it, but it's a really good thing to start with. Now I only have symptoms when I flare up, which is when I eat something that I know I shouldn't. It's not an easy diet to follow and can be confusing at first, but it's well worth a try to see if that's what's causing your pain, at least it was for me. If you want more info on IC or the IC diet let me know. I have links for you. Good luck Hun. Hugs- Ivy -- Diagnosis Inititally I was diagnosed with Vestibulitis, Levator Ani Syndrome. I went to a urogynecologist and he suspected I could have IC and wanted to do a bladder distillation, I was hesitant to get this done. Finally, I was diagnosed with PN. I had very bad pain initially, that has subsided, the only thing I am left with is burning on occasion when I urinate and occasionally, I do get sharp jabbing pains in my vagina. My question is this: Can anyone recommend a doctor that may be able to definitely give me a proper diagnosis and also other than the following" pn, ic, urethral syndrome, is there anything else that would cause burning when one urinates? I have been tested several times for urinary tract infection and never have a positive result for one. Also, this burning is occasional, which makes me wonder why it is not happening all the time? Any ideas? thanks! Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.
Guest guest
Yeah, anything with caffeine is the worst thing supposedly. I haven't had caffeine in years because I have Meniere's Disease also so I really don't know how it affects IC. The best hot beverage to drink with IC is chammomile tea. Make sure it doesn't have anything else in it though. I've gotten used to it although it's taken me a long time. Here are the links I have: http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/pubs/interstitialcystitis/ http://www.evenbetternow.com/interstitial-cystitis.asp?s=gaw1 http://www.ichelp.org/ http://www.ic-network.com/ http://www.ic-network.com/diet/ Also, here are some excellent books I've read on IC so far that have been really helpful: To Wake In Tears by M. Simone ISBN 0966775007 Along the Healing Path by M. Simone ISBN 0966775015 Solving the Interstitial Cystitis Puzzle, A Guide to Natural Healing by Amrit K, Willis RN, BSN, BA ISBN 0971086923 I hope this information helps you and anyone else that needs it. I also belong to another Yahoo group for IC sufferers if you want that link as well.
