Guest guest
I sometimes wonder (wouldacouldashoulda) about Jim’s anesthesiologist’s words (which although perhaps true, were nevertheless highly inappropriate, given that he wasn’t the surgeon, plus it was the eleventh hour, so to speak) to us back on 12/7/01, while Jim was semi-sedated mere moments before the transplant (“Mr. White, you DO know we should be taking your colon, too, right?”) Whether a study, or a group of doctors, my goodness, I’d LOVE to receive any & all 4-1-1 on this, to fwd to Jim, who neeeeeeds to be in the learning curve on this matter *with* me (after all, it’s HIS colon the doctors fret over, not mine!. Although Jim’s had UC way longer than Larry, Larry is a bit ahead of Jim on this losing-your-colon road. Colon removal against rPSC + Jim having UC for 23 years now = one darned good reason to consider the surgery, despite the pathology on his last colonoscopy’s 40-50 biopsies & 2 pseudopolyps all came back benign (praise God!) Jim is back to working 12-14 hour days at a very struggling business, fielding phone calls during the night, and then some… & from what I’ve observed in the past, sheesh, it’s probably only a matter of time (w/Jim’s stress/mind/body connection) before that all eventually comes into play with perhaps some nasty colon stuff. So it makes sense to present Jim with some facts/study results/doctors’ collective opinions on the topic. Larry, despite our occasional instant-messaging, please know I will be reading your post-surgical posts with real interest, on Jim’s behalf… Group researchers ( & you know who you are!), as it’s convenient for you to do so, & if you feel so inclined… by all means, please, bring it on! Let’s hope that’s true and in the long run, will be well worth it. We’ll all be thinking about you on the 15th. Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes!
