Guest guest
FYI - St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx has a whole wing of the hospital that is strictly Craniol Sacral with Osteopathic Doctors (DO) who are specialized in trauma care. There are Osteopathic doctors all over the country who do nothing else but CranioSacral work in their practice. Dr. Upledger is a DO; however he trains people with his method that is a little different than normal practice by a DO, but he has become very famous for what he does all over the world. Upledger Institute actually has an autism week every summer of treatment exclusive for children with autism. They are particularly known for their oral motor work with children who are non verbal. This type of work can also help children with autism for many of their issues related to the sympathetic dominant nervous system (fight or flight). I don't think Osteopathic Doctors feel their work should be considered frivolous. Tossel your sons hair a few times a day, and say I love you. Guest guest
All 26 of the osteopathic medical schools are required to give some training in osteopathy in the cranial field (the original version, taught only to physicians, developed by Garner Sutherland, DO). Some schools do a better job than others. The program at St. Barnabas is in fact a residency training program, headed by Hugh Ettlinger, DO, an accomplished and talented osteopath. The program incorporates all types of osteopathic manipulative medicine, including osteopathy in the cranial field. Dr. Ettlinger trains residents in inpatient and outpatient manipulation of all types, including cranial. For anyone wanting to find a DO, MD or DDS/DMD who does this type of cranial, go to the website for the Cranial Academy. We are all over the country. http://www.cranialacademy.com/ For anyone in South Florida, Lou Hasbrouck, DO in Ft. Lauderdale has been treating with this method since 1955, has been on the board of the Cranial Academy and a past president. He is amazing. Doris Newman, DO has recently moved to Ft. Lauderdale also. She has been in practice about 15 years. Both have considerable experience using cranial on children. There are several others in that area who use manipulation, but those who work on kids, let alone spectrum kids, is a specialty. Not all cranial osteopaths are comfortable treating children. Call and ask. Those that are not comfortable will be quite happy to tell you, and will know who the nearest person is that they would recommend. > > FYI - St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx has a whole wing of the > hospital that is strictly Craniol Sacral with Osteopathic Doctors > (DO) who are specialized in trauma care.
