Guest guest
Okay. So I had a recommendation from a website that claimed the doctors it listed specialized in vulvar disorders. I made an appointment with the only listed doctor in my area, and now doing further research his only listed specialties are urogynecology and related pelvic floor disorders. Is it relevant or appropriate for me to be going to this doctor for vulvar vestibulitis? I'm more hesitant because when I called and talked to his nurse practitioner to ask if I should go ahead and stop using Ortho Tricyclen-Lo (since I've heard so often it can cause or worsen this condition), she had never heard of any link between vulvar vestibulitis and oral b.c. And finally, if I can't go to this doctor, who can I go to? I don't have the money to join the NVA and access their list of specialists (even if there are really any in my area, which is Greenville, SC), and I don't know how to find a gynecologist who knows a good amount about vulvar vestibulitis, since my list gyno gave me lidocaine and didn't make any further attempt to treat it. I'm lost. Help?
Guest guest
Hi Eva--I am new to the area so please forgive my poor geography...I am going to see a vulvar specialist at the UNC center for pelvic pain. I haven't seen her yet, but I have heard good things from others and I know that she at least is committed to treating and researching these problems. How far are you from Chapel Hill?
