I was trying out a new pump once and pumped a little milk into a plastic cup (I wasn't planning to save it). I offered it to my then two year old who tasted it, made a sour face, and said "Ew!". Then she promptly latched on to my breast to eagerly nurse. It was the same milk, but she wanted it "on tap":)

I had the same problem. But I kept trying with all of them. In retrospect Ithink they were chewing most of the time instead of sucking. They could not getenough milk and I was suffering from the pain of my sore breasts. When theysucked on the right breast, the left one would hurt and vice-versa. But mybreasts became huge when the milk came in and I think the swelling damaged thetissues. After the birth of my daughter's third child she had to stay in the hospital fora couple of weeks because of excessive bleeding and pain from her tuballigation. She would express the milk and send it home so her hubby could feedthe baby. The baby would not drink the expressed milk. They tried every nippleon the market with no luck. Once when I was babysitting I tasted the milk fromthe bottle and it tasted terrible. I told her and she quit doing it andswitched to formula. But later when she came home she went back tobreast-feeding and the baby would take it from the breast but not from a bottle.OraOn Tue, 18 Sep 2007 19:54:55 -0700 (PDT), Chelle <elliottmag (AT) yahoo (DOT) com> wrote:> Another area that was hard for me was breast-feeding. I tried both times with everything in me to successfully nurse my boys...and it just did NOT work out. I felt like a failure! Even pumping regularly I could only get 1.5 ounces from both breasts combined. Neither one of my boys seemed to be able to latch on correctly and first time around I ended up cracked and bleeding. I knew it wasn't working when the milk looked 'pink', no joke. *sigh* ~Chelle
