Guest guest
Tina, You can't assume that the cause of all diabetic problems are due to so-called poor medical treatment. I know a couple of diabetics that have not been to see a doctor in years. One is a Type 1 that hasn't seen a physician in 5 years, doesn't test at all and takes his 'normal' amount of insulin daily and eats pretty much whatever he wants. Has never had an A1C test. He has insurance, but for some reason won't even go to the doctor to get an Rx so his insurance will pay for the insulin! He's an otherwise intelegent individual. I'm sure he's not the only one out there like this. My guess is that it's people like this that are one of the reasons there are so many diabetic problems out there. I would also venture to guess that if he had minimal care (and by minimal I mean only an A1C every 3 months) he could achieve better control and potentially fewer complications. As I've already said, I'm sorry you had poor treatment from one of your doctors. Maybe it was just a personality thing... if you are unwilling to hear the message, the messenger will never be helpful. Aside from that, my previous position stands: it does no one a service to condem their medical care based upon an email that took 5 minutes or less to write. Especially when that condemnation seems to be based upon the wholesale assessment of a single personal experience. Also, Tina. I've never assumed that every diabetic gets good care. So please stop putting words in my mouth. What I have said all along is that you can't assume someone is getting poor care without knowing all of the facts, without knowing how well they have understood the information they have been given and without knowing more than the sliver of information supplied in a single email.
