I couldn't figure out what to do either so we went to strictly the football hold. That put an end to that. lol I don't know why though. Sorry to not be of more help but I wanted to let you know that I had that happen too. W. Guest guest
I don't have any advice on how to make him stop- could he be teething? You could try unlatching and relatching him when he does that and he might stop. Is he nursing when he's doing it or just playing? If he is playing and not nursing you could give him a teething ring or something as a substitute. Sorry I don't have more advice. Hang in there! Guest guest
Does he nurse properly as well as 'chewing'? If he is also nursing well (without chewing) then when he chews take him off the breast and offer a teething ring or a frozen wash cloth to chew on instead. If he is not nursing at all I suggest you see a lacatation consultant as it may be his latch isn't right or something. Guest guest
Welcome , I am guessing that your son is teething--initial, you may not see a tooth for months. Offer appropriate teething articles, say no when he chews on you, praise for good nursing, say no firmly and seriously--no smile, say ouch when he hurts, unlatch nursing that isn't good.
