I was first jaundice at age 17 and was diagnosed at age 20. I am now 43 and I was just listed for tx 20 mo. ago. As far as the swelling, I would contact your doctor. It may just be that you're bloated but it may also be what's called ascites. Ascites is free flowing fluid that builds up in your abdomen and can be causes by the liver failing to do it's job. Other conditions can lead to ascites, but given you have PSC... See if you can make a phone call or two and touch base with your doctor to see what he/she has to say. Stay safe! Guest guest
Jenna, You should probably call your doctor and let him know about this. It might be ascites (fluid build up in the abdomen. It could also be, like in my case, that the liver is enlarged. Either way it is something your doctor needs to know about. When my liver started becoming enlarged the doctor told me to watch my salt intake so that no additional fluids would build up. I was on a very low salt diet up until my transplant. Remember that almost all cannned foods and processed food have a LOT of salt in them. Good luck and take care. I had been sick in the summer of 2006 with jaundice and they could not figure out what was wrong. Now I have been diagnosed and am just playing this waiting game.Lately I have experienced abdominal swelling. I don't know if this is something normal. Has this happned to anyone else. My stomach bloats out and is somewhat hard. I'm not really sure what I should do as I am studying abroad at the moment. Any advice or similar situations with feedback would be greatly appreciated!Jenna Expecting? Get great news right away with email Auto-Check.Try the Yahoo! Mail Beta.
