Guest guest
Ian, This is a good question. This practice was in place already when I joined, so I don’t know the history of it. It is a sort of “short hand” to give pertinent information – such as what is your relationship to PSC? You will see some with “Mom of …” or “husband of …” when was the person with PSC diagnosed -- 1/04, PSC Are there other relevant diagnoses or procedures– 1/04, UC (ulcerative colitis) ---- j-pouch (procedure done as a result of removing a colon) Are you (or the person with PSC) on a transplant list – and where – Listed 7/21 (this year) at Baylor Dallas transplant center Have you had a transplant – when – where ---- tx 1/04 UPMC Pgh How many transplants have you had ---- tx1 tx2 Those are the short hands I can think of off the top of my head … keep asking! This was a good question. LINDA (Mom of Suzanne, 18; 1/04 UC; 3/04 PSC; j-pouch 2/07) From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Ian Cribb Sent: Sunday, June 03, 2007 7:55 PM To: Subject: OT. What do all the numbers and letters mean I'm fairly new to the support group and wondering what do all the numbers and letters at the end of e-mails mean ie. " Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes! Son Ken (33) UC 91 - PSC 99 Listed 7/21 @ Baylor Dallas " I understand some of it: - Son Ken (33) - her Son Ken is 33 years old - UC 91 - he was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 1991 - PSC 99 - he was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis in 1999 but what does " Listed 7/21 @ Baylor Dallas " mean?? Guest guest
-----Original Message----- so that means ken has been on a waiting list with Baylor since July of 2006. When is the transplant expected?? We expect the transplant to take place – whenever they call us ;-) Honestly, who knows? Ken is #1 in his blood group (AB) at Baylor, but there are several others with higher MELD scores in the region (Texas & Oklahoma). AB is a pretty rare blood group, so we don’t expect anything to happen too soon and we aren’t in any hurry, I am a firm believer in keeping all original parts as long as possible. When they do his MRI soon, if they find anything, that’s a different story, but otherwise we are very happy to wait. Ken is doing well right now and Baylor does evaluations every week, so there is always a chance someone else will be listed with a higher score. Since July he has been bouncing up and down on the list, but like I say, we aren’t in any hurry. Besides, Ken doesn’t want to miss the catfish tourney coming up, I know..…new liver or catfish? He’d pick a winning catfish, what’s a mom supposed to do? Me? I go down and feed the catfish off the dock everyday! Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes! Son Ken (33) UC 91 - PSC 99 Listed 7/21/06 @ Baylor Dallas _._,___
