Molly/ More questions on Probiotics

Molly, thank you very

much for writing all this information on probiotics. I take two very basic ones,

because I take narcotics and they (as you mentioned) prevent constipation, and

are much better than taking a stool softener. I have been very interested in

taking some other kinds for my immune system, but didn’t know where to

start or what to take. Do you know if the article you read was in a current

issue of Prevention? And also where do you order yours?

Probiotics

I have been using the Culturelle for a few weeks and

have been very

happy with it. It has really helped regulate my bowels. I ordered

more. Today at my Dr's. office I was reading an article about pro-

biotics and which ones to take for different issues. There is a

Jarrow Formula (Jarrow products are highly trusted and I also take

Jarro-dophilus) that contains L.reuteri and L. Rhamnosus

the two

Lactobacillus strains that help women prevent UTI's, yeast and

bacterial vaginal infections. I ordered some today.

Now I have FOUR probiotics. They all contain different strains of

pro-biotics so I think I'll take the Culturelle and Fem-Dophilus

everyday and alternate the other two until I run out of the more

expensive one. It's not a bad idea for me to take so many strains as

I am on long term ABX that kill good bacteria. Also, I am doing this

with my Dr's permission.

My question is have any of you used Fem-dophilus? Between the

article I read in Prevention today and googling " L reuteri and L.

Rhamnosus I feel pretty good about taking it but of course a real

testimonial would be more meaningful to me.
