, most gyms are flexible about the

registration fee. I've got out of paying it at the last two gyms that

I joined. When I joined the gym that I go to now, I told them that if

they waived the registration fee, my hubby and I would both join. At

another gym, I paid 6 months up front to avoid a registration fee. To

me, gym memberships are kinda like buying a car. Sometimes they're

willing to work with you, just to make a sell. The one where I work

out now is good about letting my daughter work out for free with me

over holiday breaks and occasional weekends.... in exchange, if I'm

there in the afternoon when the manager goes to get her daughter from

school, I answer the phone and chat with any drop-ins until she gets

back.
