Guest guest
Thanks for drawing this to my attention, I had not read it. Outrageous, huh? I am thinking of writing on my consent form 'I consent to a myomectomy but I do not consent to a hysterectomy'. Does anyone think this is being too demanding in the sense that they may not be keen to operate on my if I write this? Perhaps I should include the words '...unless necessary to save my life'. Thanks Noelene Did you read Carla's fairly recent post about the women who are suing the " uterus branding " doc for performing hysts that may not have been necessary? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/uterinefibroids/message/40702
Guest guest
<<However, I also think what if he opens up my body and finds cancer and disease? >> Cat, Even if you have added a clause saying no hysts and the doc finds cancer (which is highly unlikely in most fibroid cases anyway) he/she can always close you up and do a hyst the next day with you properly informed. I doubt a day would make much difference. This is just my opinion but I think you would probably have some symptoms, other than the usual fibroidial ones, that would indicate something as serious as cancer. I had a salivary gland tumor removed in March this year (first surgery I ever had and a good test run for the myo I'll have later this year) and never, even for a moment, did I think it was cancerous and it wasn't. But I did have to insist on having it removed - doc thought it was a benign enlarged lymph node and after surgery said she was glad I insisted on having it removed. The reality was there was about a 50% cancer chance but there would have been symptoms and I had none. Good luck with everything. Guest guest
for cancer I would say...as long as you are in there, yank it out. gg Cat Kwok wrote: >I think that is a good idea to write in those lines in the consent form. However, I also think what if he opens up my body and finds cancer and disease? What should I do then, since I will be on the operation bed? One surgeon told me that he did have one case that he supposed to perform myomectomy, rather he performed hyst because he found a lot of diseases. Do you think he was doing a right thing? >Please rely. >Cat > >MMECURIE@... wrote: > > > ><<I DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR A HYSTERECTOMY TO BE PERFORMED.
