Guest guest
Debbie, I'm interested in knowing the results of the high-URSO study. I was on 750mg/day, but in 2004 I lost my prescription drug coverage and because the pills are so expensive (it cost us $1.36 per 250mg pill up here in Canada) I reduced my daily dosage to 500mg/day. My liver enzymes numbers stayed very good. Ian Cribb in western Canada My URSO instructions changed as I've changed healthcare providers. From 1999 to 2005, I took 300 mg in the morning and 300 mg in the evening. I'm now in the high-URSO study, taking 600 mg three times a day (morning, afternoon, evening), based upon weight (I weigh about 150 lbs). A few years ago, I learned during an emergency blood transfusion (super low crit) that my health care team considers URSO to be the most important of all the drugs I take (I have 9 different prescriptions). They told me when the transfusion process was taking longer than originally expected, that I could skip all other meds for the evening, but I needed to maintain the URSO level in my body. An additional note: thanks to the conference " Women with PSC " support group, I was successful in persuading my hepatologist to perform an MRCP despite the fact that my labs don't indicate there's a need. First, I retrieved the records from a 2-year old MRCP and then I convinced him that a comparison of that with a current one would have value. Still awaiting results.
