I think Vit D suppliments are underutilized and that most of the time

the dose is too low. Before my transplant I took 50,000 u/day to get

my level above 40. I think getting to a level of 50 is a reasonable

goal. With poor bile flow the absorption is poor. Toxicity is rare and

levels and calcium can be monitored

Von,

What did you use to get such high daily intake? The largest vitamin D

tablet I've seen is 1000 IU in bottles of 100 - 50,000 IU/day would

take half a bottle a day!

My wife got me some vitamin D that comes in a bottle with a dropper.

It's 2000 IU per drop, and there are 1100 drops per bottle! It was

recommended to her by a doctor who was the speaker at a medical

conference she went to. The vitamin D is in olive oil, and tastes good

(if you like olive oil!)

It's sold at emersonecologics.com

It comes in prescription form of 50K/pill. Of course with doses this

high you would want to monitor vitD-25 levels and calcium levels. I

went from a level of 7 to finally in the 50s
