Guest guest
Hi All, I have been dealing with Vulvodynia since June of this year, after been mis-diagnosed by 8 different doctors who said I had yeast infections, streptococus, cervicitis and bladder infections. I was given 8 rounds of anti-biodic treatments in a 8 week period, which I beleive may have caused or worsened the vulvodynia. My first course of treatment was to do the low oxolate diet in conjunction with Calcium citrate. I find this slightly helpful, but am having a hard time determining which foods cause burning and which don't. Some foods that are on the safe list cause me extreme pain (ex: cheese) Any comments? Recently I was speaking to a family member and I mentioned that I was going to speak to my gyno about taking Amitriptyline and Gabenpentin and she said to call a very knowledgebale pharamacist who specializes in neuro pharmaceutucs. I spoke to him, and he recomended that I can take these two pills and he would compund them into a gel that I could apply directly to the vulva, thus decreasing the side effects of these pills. (i needed to get the gyno on board to prescribe it.) I have been using this gel for 6 days and my pain has decreased significantly. (I don't know if the two are related) He mentioned that he can play with the formula to add other things if this is not signaficant enough at reducing my pain level. (Example he could add lidocaine, antihistimines, estrace cream etc.. Has anyone ever tried this? It seems like a brilliant alternative to ingesting pills and destroying your liver in the meantime. Any comments, suggestions? This is my first time posting a message on this board. To all of you that suffer I wish your pain away!
