Guest guest
Hi Emma Valium is in the benzodiazepine family, (comparable to ativan, klonopin) typically used to treat anxiety, I was just wondering why he didn't suggest something more like flexeril, zanaflex or baclofen which are truly used as muscle relaxers. Also did he mention botox to you? What kind of pain do you have with your pfm spasming and how could he decipher that the pain wasn't your pudendal nerve? Sorry for all the questions:) but Im trying to get as much info as I can. CIt's Tax Time! Get tips, forms and advice on AOL Money Finance. Guest guest
Maybe he rx'ed valium because I have some heart issues and perhpas valium would be healthier in my case. He did not mention botox yet - he seems to think this is a strictly hormonal issue. I have urinary pain - pain after i pee like a pulling feeling in my urethra. And pain when I have to pee. I also have the urge to pee often. He tested my muscles and said i had tightness and trigger points. He did a q-tip test and isolated the pain to the vestibule. I am reading about pudental neuralgia, and so many of my symptoms are similar. At some point though, after suffering with this for so long, I give up trying to diagnose myself and I just need to trust the doctor. I have seen so many, and he by far, seems to know what he is talking about. Any thoughts out there? Guest guest
Flexeril, baclofen and zanaflex are typically used for muscle relaxation when an injury has occurred. There are many muscle relaxers and doctors are supposed to be aware of which ones are most appropriate for the problem at hand. Guest guest
Emma, I totally agree with the info you have passed along about the birth control pill connection to vulvar pain. I took the pill for a total of 10 yrs. and I really believe that all of Dee's info on blocked Estrogen receptors were right on for 'me'. Once I began using bio-identical Estrogen cream topically, my vulvar skin began to improve...and stopped tearing, burning, stinging, feeling raw! I still have one area of skin that causes contact pain and will have it checked out next month. I also have had issues with tight muscles, too. I went to see Rhonda Kotarinos (PT) for 3 days last Oct. I was recently diagnosed with Pudendal Neuralgia as I've had really bad sit pain for the past 18 months. Do you have any pain with sitting? Glad to hear you have found a doctor you trust! ~Chelle
