Guest guest
Pink Joyce Others have had similar issues as it often depends on the supplier, the insurance, even who the local supplier manager is. However, a few possible suggestions. 1-Some have gotten two Helios units from their suppliers. 2-Sounds like you must be on a Helios Plus. I'd recommend upgrading to a Helios Marathon which would extend your time significantly. 3-I'm sure its probably your supplier's choice, but if you're using Liquid for portable, I would want it at home too. I know this isn't relevant to this issue, but just my opinion although many do use Liquid Portable and Concentrator. The reverse possibility, of course, is to get rid of the Helios and then use all compressed tanks for portables. 4-If Elaine isn't the manager of the Lincare office, talk to the manager and discuss the problem. 5-Have your doctor write the prescription specific as to exactly what you desire. For instance, Concentrator, Helios Marathon for Portable, and Compressed Oxygen Portables to back up Helios. I advise this to anyone struggling with oxygen company as they have to respect the prescription. > > Hi Group > the following note is what I sent to the nurse at my pulmonary doc's office. Guest guest
Hi Pink, don't these companies make you want to scream.. My co actually told me the same thing. then one day talking to a lady about supplies I needed she said "If we get a script from your Dr. we have to fill it."So they brought me m6, E tanks and liquid at one time but I didn't really like the liquid. I use E tanks. they last me a little over an hour so we always take a trunk full when we go out.Talk to your Dr. would be my advise. Hi Groupthe following note is what I sent to the nurse at my pulmonary doc's office. I hope the note is self explanatory. I am wondering if anyone else has a similar situation. If so, what has your experience been?I look forward to your answers. Thanks. Pink Joyce Hi JenThis is about oxygen equipment. I have a Helios and a liquid O2 tank. I also have a concentrator to use in the house. In addition, I have those little green tanks, I think they are M6's. I use them to hold me over when the Helios freezes and when I am going to be out of the house for a long period of time and the Helios runs out. For example, last Saturday I went to the ball game. After the Helios ran out, I used 2 or 3 green tanks until I got home. When using O2, I use 2 liters at rest and 4 liters when active, i.e.: walking the dog, exercise, walking anyplace. To summarize, the Helios is only good for for 3 to 4 hours, if I am away from the house for a longer period of time, I need something to supplement the Helios. Guest guest
Pink, I've been lucky enough to get two Helios plus units from my supplier. They hyaven't ever charged me for the 2nd one. Now that Medicare and the supplemental plan takes care of all of it it doesn't matter. I used to pay 50% of the cost !!! I fill up two of them if I think that one might not do it...I've needed both frequently. I need 3 lpm or sometimes 3.5 on the Helios if I'm talking a great deal. The stupid thing does occasionally freeze up...I just stop talking...turn it down to 2 lpm for a few minutes and then all is OK. I always take the oximeter with me in my purse, so if I need to turn the Helios down I can be monitoring the #'s to be sure I don't drop below 90. So far so good.
